Beautiful race. Its ticklish...I'm not sure I'll pick the winner or even bet it yet. I'm vacilating far too much. Left Bank is 3 for 3 over Belmont and working with "bad intentions." He's gettin weight and on his best day he could beat these. His first race at Belmont he battled in a scalding first fraction put the challenger away and won laughing. (Hes always won laughin at Belmont) His last he collapsed like a house of cards. He didn't break clean that day. Matter of fact his last couple losses could be interpreted as occurring due to poor breaks. But there is a flip side to that equation. Other than that first Belmont race, this looks to be a horse that needs to get the lead to stride efficiently. He won't get the lead today. That horse Trippi is probably the quickest footed Eastern Speed. Trippi didn't get the lead in the Breeder's Cup, but ponder for a moment the speed that was in that race. He'll get it today, barring trouble or a change in tactics by his connections. (I don't think Left Bank is gonna like getting outfooted. We'll see, he handled it at Belmont once before. But add his need to see daylight in front of him with that last race flop and poorish results in stakes company when other speed was present and I'm gonna let him beat me for the top two spots.) Traditionally. I have no idea what Shug is doing with this horse. He worked him on the turf twice leading up to this event. This horse did not especially care for the turf and the first time he came off the turf he did not run like the horse he appears to be now. Unless this horse has been working on the turf during this run hes got going I can't see why he's working on it now. I don't like it. I'm sure Traditionally was nominated to this event like the whole Phipps barn probably was, but now I get the feeling he wasn't really pointed to this one. I could certainly be wrong and its probably not wise to second guess Shug. Maybe that O.P. Handicap was hard on Traditionally and Shug worked him on the grass to put a little bounce in his getalong. But anyone privy to this horse workin on the grass before the last three wins is in a better position than I am...hmmmm. Not done with this one yet. lol CtC
