You just gotta luv it, don't you? Good horses, historic locations. In this sport, you're not just a spectator; you're a participant. You buy participation with the tickets in your pocket. When there's horseracin who cares about baseball, basketball or football. Non-interactive sports don't compare! Include: must be a pretty dang good horse. He beat a good one last fair and square. Delp thought he might have the Second Coming of "The Bid". He doesn't. But it was the best race of his career. Maybe, he'll bounce? He's picking up 4 pounds and that's gonna be about 2 lengths worse. He's been bearing away in the stretch. Though, granted he was going an extra sixteenth last. His better figures are with the 114 lb. impost however and I'm not certain a hot 9 marks under more weight is really something Include is gonna relish. Additionally, he hasn't worked over the track (I consider that criminal) but Buddy didn't ease off him at all after the Special and the last two works do make him look like a finely tuned machine·A Fleetwood Brougham·or Lexus if you prefer. Sir Bear: What can you say? He's eight years old. But he's as game as they come. He can roar 7 marks and he can survive 10. What a game animal, don't you love him? Son of a gun has got one work coming off a bad race and a recent period of freshening. (I sure would like to see more activity). But he handled Broken Vow at 10 marks·why not 9? I also like the fact the old boy is getting Bute today. When a competitor gets up there in years, he's gonna have remembrances of days when things didn't go so well for him (I know·lol) The Bute might help him forget some of those nagging reminders. If you look at the Bear's Bute races you gotta wonder if it helped him. I don't hold his failure to get up in the Goodwood with Bute against him. Santa Anita is Santa Anita and the top three here might have run 4th, 5th and 6th out there. It was a dang brave play to send him to la la land against those. But after that race, he didn't hang around long. At Goodwood time, I don't think either Tiznow or Captain Steve were held in the same regard they are now. Ziadie had the best Sprinter I EVER saw (Hooting Star). I think Ziadie believes this horse can ship to Massachusetts and win. Great care has to be taken in betting contrary to that determination Broken Vow·gets in with the same weight. He's beaten Duckhorn, Perfect Cat and Vision and Verse. His fast numbers are dang fast·only negative is they were earned at Keeneland and Gulfstream. But he's a horse that has handled 9 marks and a horse that is bred to handle it under pressure. That pressure may come from Durmiente. If it doesn't Prado may look back and with a wave of his hand, say "So long Charley" to the rest of this field. Vow failed to get the lead in the Gulfstream Park handicap·he'll get it Saturday. The local horses are all just trying to not finish 7th. If you finish 6th or better it's a nice payday. I suspect the horse to finish last will be Sky Approval. (But I picked Invisible Ink to finish last in the Derby·Cheater changed running styles on me in that race though). In my opinion, the local with a third place chance is Crown Noble. The other's are trying to not finish 7th. Projected odds: Include 7-5 Broken Vow 5-2 Sir Bear 4-1 Durmiente 9-1 Crown Noble 30-1 Personal Moon 40-1 Sky Approval 99-1 Final Piks to come.
