: : If Kimmel believes he does indeed have a derby horse there is no way he would have had him fully cranked for the Fountain of Youth. If he runs him back in the Fla Derby two points will be proven. First, he had bigger plans than just the FOY. Second, he knows he has a Derby horse. I expect him to run in the Fla Derby and run at least his top, probably a new top. If he does, he should win at a nice price.

: Successful Appeal bled profusely in FOY. He was indeed wound up and was expected to run very competitively. He will most likely pass the Florida Derby to run in the Gotham and Wood with Lasix on..

Astute deduction by do run run, as the Sheet Guy confirms. I suspected Successful Appeal bled. He ran pretty well despite the problem. A few more comments. One person earlier in this thread questioned Successful Appeal's form. Look at the sheet again. There's no question about his form . He has a great pattern and Kimmel is a layoff trainer. That's his regimen. If a horse is capable, he's going to run under Kimmel's tutelage 1st or 2nd time out. Why can't Successful Appeal develop more? Certainly, if he's not talented enough he won't but there was every indication that the 2yo figures did not hurt SA and any 2yo capable of running 4-1/2s without reacting is much more than likely capable of running faster as he ages.
