1)This is a commercial site. My comments are designed to highlight differences in accuracy and methodology between Ragozin and Thoro-Graph. Ragozin's lack of comment about Thoro-Graph on their site is done to avoid exactly the same thing. Both are business moves. Motives of anyone else jumping in are their own.
2)I had no comment on Friedman's Arkansas Derby analysis because it wasn't relevant to the point at hand. On at least on occasion I complimented him on a pre-race analysis, I encourage him to do more of it - It would make it easier for the consumers to compare. The after the fact analysis is a joke - unless they show you races where horses they liked ran bad, it's phony-baloney hype, pseudo-lessons notwithstanding.
3)Friedman did a great job of making the ridiculous sound reasonable, while actually confirming what I said - that they used the surrounding races to make the variant despite all the obvious reasons (see my previous postings) making that a silly idea, and so ended up (as I predicted) giving almost half the field new topw of between 2 and 4 points. A poster on the Ragozin site got it exactly right - in the other two Derby preps that day, what percentage of horses got big new tops? And by the way, since Friedman only divides the Wood field in terms of 2 point or more forward or backward moves, did the "neutral" horses run smaller new tops?
