It was a virtual 4-way dead heat today.
The first quote comes from Pat Moran (I love the "tripping over the welcome mat" comment), the second from the FUTURE President of Catskill OTB or CEO of Autotote, the third from an anonymous racetrack operator that should probably forever remain anonymous, and the fourth from Steven Crist who states the obvious (at least to most of us).
Enjoy!

First Quote:
Pat Moran (Newsday)
"The fact that all betting information is not transmitted in real time is scandalous. The fact that Catskill OTB, where the suspicious wagers were placed, has no mechanism for recording telephone keypad transactions is scandalous. Autotote's reliance on outdated hardware and patchwork software is scandalous. The racing industry's lack of standards when dealing with vendors such as Autotote is scandalous. The foreshadowing of these events and the decision to ignore warnings is scandalous...
...The industry's response has been a laughable drill in damage control...
...to the inadequacies revealed by the three fraternity brothers who are charged with tripping over the welcome mat."
Second Quote:
"I know what they did wasn't right, but in a twisted sort of way it shows our high standards. It shows the quality of the education you can get here," said Lang Kirchheimer, 18, a Drexel freshman.
Third Quote:
Mike Brunker (MSNBC)
"But Quinn said that some segments of the task force initially were reluctant to endorse a national review, including one member who expressed concern that racetrack operators could face financial liability if the review uncovers evidence that bettors were defrauded by hackers or insiders at the racetracks or tote companies."
Fourth Quote:
Steven Crist
"The scariest part of this story is that I find it hard to believe this was a two- or three-shot scam pulled by three guys in their 20s," he said. "You begin to wonder how much money has been taken out of your pocket over the years."
