A typical Baffert MO is to have horses ready to win 1st time off the layoff instead of the more traditional method of racing horses into condition. Maybe because he works them fast and hard so that his works are like races. Steroids may also be involved to build his charges up fast. Maybe other trainers are copying his methods.
