Since no one of lowly poster status appears to be in the room where it happens, speculation of motivation will be rife, none of it favorable to NYRA, and not without some justification. For some of us of a cynical bent (probably 99% of those who post here), blame will comfortably gravitate to those NYRA decisions-makers who will throw out the baby with the bathwater if they can't wring every last penny from a particular aspect of their operation, even at the expense of continued customer alienation. Penny-wise, pound foolish decision-making, exhibit A. Of course, there may be some straightforward, logistical explanation for this, independent of ill-advised decision-making, or legislative meddling, so it would behoove those in the know to offer clarification if they are privy to it. The reality, as I see it, is that this will affect the NYRA Bets bottom line, because that's money that will not necessarily go to other wagers at NYRA tracks. But, I could be wrong.
