I never consider jockey or trainer to be separate handicapping factors.
When handicapping, if there has been no trainer and/or jockey change from a horses previous races, I have already taken them into consideration when I handicap the horse'e performance. Of course we all know how significant a trainer change can be. As for a jockey change, this can also be significant though more an indicator of trainer intention than anything else. In these cases it would be wise to see how these horses perform when the trainer rides this jockey. It might also be useful to see which jockeys are hot at a meet to recognize when the trainer is making what he believes to be a positive rider change and is going for it.
