In recent years, the California horses have done very, very well in the Kentucky Derby and in general shipping around for preps before the Derby and some of the lower level "Derby's" in the summer.
One explanation has been the great weather that results in constant training during these winter months. This year has been a little different to say the least.
And with Santa Anita cancelling Saturday's card and indefinitely that includes the San Felipe for the Baffert duo, this can't be ideal for the Cali 3yo's. Will they still conquer when they ship East this year despite these clear hurdles this year?? If one trainer can call an audible and not have one problem whatsoever, it's Baffert.....
Will be very interesting. Oh...and isn't the Breeders Cup at Santa Anita this year? They may want to consider a new spot right away with how SA is trending...….
