Hey JB:

I am working 70 hours per week now (all hail reverse retirement), so
hibernation (or sleep of any kind) is something I am constantly daydreaming
about.

Lasix questions because I have not been following closely:

(1) If Racing ever gets to ground zero (no race day Lasix anywhere) what
happens when a runner actually "bleeds" (using my old school definition, which
infuriates the purists, even a trickle of blood from the nostrils) during a
race?

I do not know if the proposals address this, but I would think a horse that
bleeds during a race should (after a short spell on the Vet's list) be allowed
a small dose of Lasix and to carry 3-5 pounds of lead when next raced? If this
was regulated closely I would anticipate that the number of runners treated
with Lasix would be somewhere near 10%?

(2) If a horse is recognized as a bleeder should that prevent said horse from
standing at stud? Should a mare who bled on track be allowed to be bred? The
economic impact here is not insignificant.

My OPINION is that many horseplayers will now focus on what trainers are
getting the best results without Lasix, as well we should, BUT the key piece of
the puzzle will be to determine which horses actually need Lasix to race.

Another OPINION is that laboratories in parts unknown are working on a non-
detectable Lasix substitute, if one is not already available.

Looks like a good card at OP Saturday, though rainy/sloppy appears inevitable.

Have you found a speakeasy yet? I do not drink at home so I have not had a drop
since March 14, 2020.
