Monmouth Observation (783 Views)

Tomorrow is the Haskell and that will be too crowded for me so I went to Monmouth tonight. Check out the results and chart of the third race, and take a look at the horse that finished last. You can check the red board room tomorrow.

This trainer claimed the horse from Rudy Rodriguez and he just ran about ten days ago. This guy totally dominates the cheap claiming races but if the horses are going more than six furlongs or up the claiming ladder he loses his mojo. Something is up, and I’ve seen the outline of it throughout the meet. This race was a mile. I figure going from Rudy to this guy on short rest...at a mile...no chance based on what I’ve been tracking.

Horse is favorite at 2/1. He’s a leading trainer so the crowd is on it. Comes out on the track, POURING sweat. It’s hot out, but nobody else looks like this. Just soaked. Horse breaks on top, goes well for about six furlongs and stops dead in the middle of the stretch. DNF. Awful. The last time I went he had another horse that stopped before the finish line but he was far enough ahead to barely hang on. I have to wonder what stewards who are there every day are looking at if they don’t notice this kind of thing. Popping and stopping. These guys are everywhere. Sucks.
