JB really the problem is that some of the runners in North America who might be
able to compete at equal weights are nowhere to be found.

To twist your words a bit, when you have a HOY running against a NW3LT, weight
might be the only way to level the playing field.

To go back 40 years and more (sorry) the two greatest horses I have seen--Forego
and Spectacular Bid--distinguished themselves by not allowing top weights to keep
them from their appointed rounds.
