Arkansas is not prepared or ready for major inclement winter weather. They do not have the trucks/plows, chemicals, etc like other states as the true icy and snowy weather rarely hits them. As a result when they get hit hard by a winter storm like they did the last few days that took out many from Oklahoma to Maine, they are crippled.

I know several friends down there who told me they have not worked the last few days (not folks working in the racing world to be clear). I also saw reports that freezing created a training problem in the morning the last few days. Last, I wondered if they had issues with horses being able to ship in and out to fill the entries as planned (haven't looked to see if any shippers but that was a thought).

So, while the weekend weather looks fine down there, it is the weather the last few days.
