My last post of the year with a workout angle I promise.
Gulfstream Park, Race 10.
#9 Risen Sun, 6-1 m/l for Nolan Ramsey, First time lasix and First time gelding. He was bet to 5-2 in a 6 horse field on 10.1.24 at PID running poorly.
His last polytrack work listed in the form is 11.30.24 at Gulfstream Park. The work is listed as 59.78 matching the 59.78 reported for (FORMER) stablemate Strand of Gold.
Strand of Gold is 4yo filly (5yo tomorrow) with a record of 15-5-1-1 including a 5-2-0-1 record on Synthetic. She won her most recent start on 12.19.24 for a $20k claiming tag on turf at 5-2 (73 Beyer). She was claimed out of the race but had raced for the Nolan Ramsey barn since the June 6th race at Laurel. The two poly races during that timeframe included a win (76 Beyer) and a 4th (72 Beyer).
If Risen Sun can put forth an effort that's even several lengths less than the former stablemate, he can win here.
I find the #5 a worthy contender based on the 11/9 race (last time he raced on poly). Gets lasix, gets Saez, gets easier company.
I'll have both in horizontals and an exacta box.
Happy New Year and Good Luck out there in 2025!
