This raises an interesting question - if somebody is allowed to bet late in the pool and they bet wrong - it seems to me there is no way they should be allowed to get their bet back because it was made late. That is just fundamentally wrong and rewards bad actors for bad actions. I haven't looked into this situation, so I do not know if that is what happened.

However, all the bets are time stamped. If bets were allowed after a fixed time, it has to be very easy as a matter of computer programing to see what bets were before the line and what bets were after. It seems to me very easy that the solution here is the late bets go into the pool and stay in the pool, but they are marked ineligible to win. All the bets made before the deadline should be determined based on a pool of all the bets made regardless of when made divided only by winning bets made prior to the deadline. That has to be a very easy computer action and is very obviously the right result. Why is somebody who made a timely wager penalized because somebody else made a late wager? I do not know what happened at PARX, but it seems to me no question the solution should have been what I wrote above and any other determination is fundamental wrong.

If a CAW player argues that it is not his fault the system accepted his wager, that is like saying - well the cop saw me readying and aiming to shoot the guy and he didn't stop me so it must be okay. Somebody making a bet more than a second or two after the gate opens cannot be innocent. They had complete control over when they made the bet. The fact that it was accepted should not be the end of the story as to whether it was valid. If the question is - how do you know what the cutoff time is - it should be specifically regulated. if it occurred but by human error a button wasnt pushed, then its occurrence should apply notwithstanding the human error. If things are not what I am saying, then things are far more broken than I even thought.

For me, this is all moot because I am switching Jan 1 from pari mutuel play to contest only play due to the new Vought rules on taxation of parimutuel wagering.
