Tampa Bay Pick 5 on Sunday:
5-2, 2nd choice Chad on Turf.
2-1, 2nd choice. Chad loses on dirt with layoff horse at 1-2.
8-5, Favorite, FTS for 50% Miguel (was his dad ever 50% anywhere, hmm)
5-2, 2nd choice by .10 in the odds and won fourth race in a row
5-2, 2nd choice.
$552.75 for 50 cents. I hit for 50 cents but a more intelligent strategy would have lead to having it for a dollar beyond the 50 cent ticket. Profitable play on my only play of the day but always looking to improve and I spread a touch in leg 3 when the Miguel charge was my top pick having worked with 74 Beyer winning FTS Congressional it appeared. FTS hard to really key in on though as we all know. Thus, an extra ticket with my strongest opinions and him as a single would have been a better play.
As much as I dressed down Pegasus Day for Gulfstream's appeal to the wrong crowd for on track attendance by "dressed up" folks, their gambling product Saturday is very, very good. I'm excited to see this card. How about Fort Washington's chances? Post a concern obviously, but this horse late will be heard from if any pace ensues with Cabo Spirit up front early. Silver, surely you will pull out at least a couple Benjamin's for his 2026 return? Shug at 0 for 17, the post, and some others in there will garner some attention should lead to a solid price. The Motion horse finishing kick last time was something to see but that was with Lasix and none today. I'm interested in those two with FW as a key on top and the South African underneath.
Repole suing folks. I read the post (tweet still acceptable?) on X. If it uncovers CAW issues or contributes to lawmakers or Govt committees closer scrutiny (See Ky and NY currently) that improves the game for parimutuel participants in a more even manner, count me in as fully supporting Repole. Other than that pursuit to improve the game, I'm not sure what, if any, legal claims he can pursue with any success as an owner in the game based on his statements.
Last, so few handicapping posts anymore in these parts when the number of views are still fairly substantial raises questions. Notably, have the folks that were serious handicappers quit being as serious. Likely. Have the serious folks here just migrated to social media. Maybe a little bit. I genuinely believe it likely means the serious retail recreational players are fed up with the game except for the occassional junkie fix.
Derby season is on the way for some whackos to appear but also some handicapping here by those looking for the fix on the biggest event of the year.
