Who would have ever thought that Fairmount Park would be needed to bail out a Chicagoland track?
Sure sounds an awful lot like Accel Entertainment is trying to get a casino license for a sweetheart deal. Hmmm. . . but who would want this family as a "partner."
From the article address below for you to copy and paste or find at the TDN website. TDN's articles don't allow cutting/copying and pasting of their articles so I had to re-type this quote which points to Accel Entertainment in my opinion. Accel Entertainment owns Fairmount Park now and is based in Chicago. Prior to Fairmount, they were known for owning many video gaming terminals in gas stations I believe. Possibly read the most in the country maybe they own?? And they bought Fairmount for roughly 30 million from Stiritz. They are a publicly traded company. So actually Fairmount isn't bailing out Chicagoland. . . it is more Chicago bailing out Chicago if it happens but taking liberties with the truth always make the lede or the headline more fun.
"We're working with a new partner, someone nearby, someone interested in Illinois and Illinois racing, who really wants all of this to succeed and move quickly," Walsh said. "Whatever's going to happen is going to happen in the next two or three weeks."
I was told a long while back Accel looked into it but the debt was just too daunting. Maybe desperate times for the Hee Haw folks of Cicero Kounty calls for desperate measures.
