I read some articles on Paulick etc and that is what the trainer said. I don't buy it, but that is one man's opinion. Horses are born to run. The number wasn't crazy fast by the data provider I use.
Lots of the runners in that (BC) race were coming back on 4 weeks. Did he exhibit behavior afterwards that factored into the decision? I suppose it might be asking too much to reveal something like that. You don't hear trainers tell you how he didn't clean up his feed very often.
I remember a few years back when OXO had a good 2yo on the west coast - Instagrand - who won a graded stakes race and earned a fast number. Jerry Hollendorfer wanted to go on with him, but Larry Best said no. Let's put him away, and that was that. I believe he never won again. Who does this vindicate? IDK, but 2yo's don't always carry their form over.
I will say this - Liam's Map is an Unbridled's Song stallion - he of the bad feet. His sons didn't show up in the shed for the most part. Buddha, Dunkirk, Will Take Charge, Zensational, Value Plus all bad to mediocre. Midshipman, Arrogate, did pretty good, and Liam is probably at the top of the list. But any time I see a gap in their performers form, I question what is going on. Soundness? IDK.
You bring up Not This Time. Was it because his half brother is Liam's Map? He is giving Into Mischief a run for his money. I love Giant's Causeway finally got a sire son over here who will carry on for him.
