One of the few topics in the recent past that actually brought posters out of the woodwork in these parts centered around NYRA's Cashless transaction policy at Saratoga. As I recall, and I do clearly, I was absolutely blasted in these parts for not being with the times as I advocated for cash to continue to be an acceptable form of payment.

Wondering if this year things will be different at the Spa. I am hopeful (The Hopeful Stakes no longer on Labor Day is another important NYRA update as they moved it to Sunday) this helps the folks in the backyard like Dom who owns the Mac and Cheese truck. He said the cashless policy killed their sales compared to prior years.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Cash is king as the old adage goes, and a new law soon to go into effect in New York will impact retail transactions across the state. The Attorney General’s Office issued a consumer alert reminding New Yorkers that starting on March 21, it will be illegal for food stores or retail establishments to decline cash payments for goods or services.
