Thanks for the write-up. A couple of rear window thoughts. I have generally come to depend on TAP and Bill Mott to enter contenders. Both surprised me Saturday with a beaten favorite.
Now I see that "Nearly" was beaten by three faster horses. Some years, being beaten three(3) lengths might have gotten second place. Much has been opined about TAP and his CD derby preparations and results previously. Maybe the one(1) hurt "Nearly" or maybe Silver jinxed him, but I don't fault TAP for rolling the dice. Now I would run "Nearly" at a mile or less.
The top three finishers, I suppose, have earned enough points to be in the starting gate come May. Hard to choose one over the others? None appears to want more distance to me, albeit the last eighth went in 12.67 more or less, I read.
Lastly, these are four nice colts that will win races in the future. IMO, that was somewhat hidden because they all ran such similar races in the 2026 Florida Derby.
