UNCLE JIM was off slow, then slow into stride
and spotted the field several (more like a dozen) lengths, settled at the rear, went around the turn in the three then four path under urging, turned into the upper stretch in the six path, rallied outside in the drive, and closed well to just miss (a head) while narrowly able to get the place. (a group finished together)

I played Uncle Jim to win. I gave up when he didn't leave the gate. I gave up hope when he dropped even further back heading for the turn. Then I became interested when the leaders were doing nothing. Then the turn, and he just kept going wider and wider. Astonished that he just kept gaining to just miss.
