Gary it happens. We try and take a postion. Make a stand. And then understand how that logic lined up with the actual outcome. And hopefully learn something.
In the Wise Dan I played Lagynos and Fort Washington in an Exacta Box. I also played FW and Sovereignty in Double. My mistake is I am partial to both. And I had bet Lagynos like 5 races in a row. I watched the race on my phone in transit to a Birthday Party and the Foster in the Cocktail area. I bet $50! I didnt play the Foster and I still have no idea who won the last. The Tepin.
Very disappointed in what I saw from Sovereignty. Perhaps Bill Mott didnt have him Super Tight but he is also one of the Best Layoff Trainers around. Last year Sierra Leone was given a benefit of the doubt after Fairgrounds and Foster runs. He was primed for the Whitney. But winning the Derby and Travers (Sovereignty) versus being on the Board (Sierra Leone) comes with expectations. He disappointed.
Magnitude is the Best Horse in Training now. It is unbelievable how much he has improved since last November. Guess who else improved massively from December to June. Golden Tempo. There is one common thread. Jose Ortiz. He is working and helping these Trainers move their horses up. Not Ride Shopping every race like some others.....
