As I pointed out to a friend of mine yesterday, the NFL does a better job with transparency, and they don’t even depend on (direct) revenue from wagering.
Three points.
1- This is a chance for HISA to look authoritative by going after an unaffiliated party, as opposed to one that could threaten to hold back dues.
2- I have previously inquired about using HISA to regulate CAW, and was told their brief only extends to safety. Looks like that’s not true, which re-raises the question.
3- To quote John Fogarty, “I ain’t no Senators son, boy”. Pretty sure Gramm will survive being tossed out of the Jockey Club and losing his (on the record) ownership ability, and that nothing else will happen to him. I mean, who would be in a position to do it? And what would they do? Tell him they don’t want his handle?
