Pharocity was a prime example of knowing how trainers work their horses. He had a few works uncharacteristic for an Asmussen trainee. 4 straight bullet works including a 59 flat from the gate before adding 2 maintenance works before the race indicated he was one of Asmussen's best 2 YOs this year. The big ? was whether he could beat Pletcher's 2 million $ babies. Obviously the answer was yes. If I saw a Baffert 2 YO with those works it wouldn't mean much, but Asmussen working a horse that fast was a pretty good indication he was special (at least in this race).
