While debating last night whether to watch the Republican freak show, some not so interesting early season hockey or basketball or the endless channel scanning of 400 choices of nothing I decided to download T-graph and cap Gulfstream for today.

At the risk of being called a red boarder; oh well those who know me and who have been here for the past 6 or 7 years know I post as many pre race opinions and selections as anyone.

The maiden sprint in todays 5th race simply jumped off the sheets at me as one of the best bets I've seen in quite awhile. The 8 horse Doublebolt went off at 7/2 in her July debut, a Quality Road out of a very fast sprinting mare who ran a 2 at 3 yrs old. 3 other siblings on the Dam side had run 4,6,6 sprinting at 3. The trainer Ralph Nicks more than doubles his win % in MDN 2nd starts and he and jock Tyler Gaffalione double their everyday work when teaming up over a pretty good sample size. To go even further Nicks had another starter in the heat a 600K Indian Charlie who has seconditis and is void of impressive numbers on both turf and dirt. The favorite Treasure is a brides maid with a string of 10's as was Ring Knocker after a pair of 7's seems stuck on 12's after 7 races and still a maiden.

Aside from the superior sprint numbers on the Dam's side that you would only find here, Doublebolts maiden voyage earned an OP 23, if you read the racing forms comments it's brief bid, faded. No mention of the OP.

TG analysis had the 4/5 Ring Knocker & Treasure as the play and by the numbers run was the correct projection. I mention this a lot at the Spa seminars that I find a lot of nice priced maiden winners from the Dam's side, most are Sire, Sire, Sire conscious in maiden heats. No one whom had run was going to go under a 10, the 1 & 2 both firsters were vet scratches the last time they were entered. This horse surely had to run a number good enough to win easily as long as he broke well.

The results will make for a very Merry Christmas in the Frank D. house. A very Happy Chanukah to TGJB & TGAB and crew as well as no other service out there had the pertinent information available to connect the dots on this one! I guess that's why he paid $25.80 and topped a very nice exacta and ti!!!
