The Ragohens are a-clucking, all upset that the Breeder's Cup has abandoned
New York.
Even Kenny the Konspiracy Klown has gotten involved, linking aged articles
leading one to believe that something Mario Cuomo did sealed NYRA's fate as a
non player in the BC hosting game. Enough Kenny.
But Vito and Racemaven are reasonable men, and New Yorkers (yes it is possible
to be both). Have you guys been residing in a geodesic dome? Have you noticed
that the weather the last few weekends has ranged from unpleasant to downright
inclement? New York weather on the first weekend of November is a crapshoot at
best, and the memories of the Monmouth deluge of 2007 are still fresh in my
mind.
Additionally, while Belmont has a spot in the heart of all NY racing fans, and
many, many, many legends of the Sport have raced/stabled there during its long
history, Belmont is currently in a state of disrepair, the fact being that
most of the repair, restoration and refurbishing at NYRA tracks over the past
couple of decades has been done at the Spa and at the Big A. Belmont
Park...aging, beautiful, traditional, historic...is not currently ready for
prime time.
Just one man's opinion.
