While we are speaking of Man of War, I must note that "Man of War: A Legend Like
Lightning" by Dorothy Ours, was, in my opinion, every bit as good as Laura
Hillenbrand's more publicized "Seabiscuit".

Also very entertaining is "The Kingmaker: How Northern Dancer Founded a Racing
Dynasty", by Avalyn Hunter, who writes of ND's days as a racehorse and stallion.
Especially interesting is that ND was not the soundest of specimens, and that EP
Taylor went to the well with his champion many times over the objection of Horatio
Luro.

Northern Dancer, like Secretariat, never raced as an older horse after bowing a
tendon in training in July of 1964. As is well documented by Ms. Hunter, ND went
on to become the most influential stallion in the 20th Century and a "sire of
sires".

ND was the first horse to be admitted to the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame and was
Canadian Athlete of the Year in 1964.
