Old time Derby line....Derby winner? (1844 Views)

The old read for Derby winners 2yo lines was a debut mid to late summer and gradual improvement to the end of the year.

Cappuchino:

12/15... 8.1r
11/24... 8.1s
10/20....... 12.0s
09/13....... 12.1s
07/21......... 17.0s

Had a 5pt top to a 2.0 before the El Camino at GG and a big bounce. 62-1 FP#1

Easyfromthegetgo:

12/14... 7.3r
11/16.... 9.0s
10/28.... 9.0s
10/06.... 9.0s
08/25......11.3s

Paired up the 7.3's twice more as a 3yo, likely move forward in La Derby. 41-1 FP#1, FP-2 ML 20-1

Harlans Holiday: Almost perfect?

11/04... 2.1r (too fast 2yo# ?)
10/06..... 7.0r
09/03...... 9.5r
08/04....... 10.3s
07/07....... 11.0s
06/09......... 16.0s

Debut 3yo number an impressive 2.2; FOY? 17-1 FP#1, FP-2 ML 15-1 Stalking style fits Derby run.

High Star:

11/24... 5.3r
11/03..... 8.0s
09/09.........16.3s
08/05.........16.3s

Not the perfect line with the big jump up, but 3yo debut pair ups help, next alw? FP#1 29-1, FP-2 ML 50-1, huge drop with good FD run.

Monthir:

11/24...... 11.0r
10/26... 4.5r
09/22..... 8.2s
08/23...... 11.3
07/25....... 13.1

Not sure if AB or JB would agree that this pattern fits, but bounce at that point was likely. He went thru 2yo top in 2nd start in the Hutcheson a 3.2. FP only in Vegas, Ballys has him at 75-1

Nokoma:

11/24.... 6.3r
10/13..... 8.0r
09/22....... 13.0s

Don't recall if 3 races qualifies and debut is kinda late, perhaps TG might comment. FP#1 43-1, FP-2 ML 50-1

Repent:

11/24... 4.0r
10/27.... 6.1r
09/22..... 8.0r
09/07..... 8.0r
08/23....... 12.0s

3.0 in Risen Star. Maybe change in type of blinkers worn might straighten out his act. FP#1 8-1, FP-2 4-1

Request For Parole:

11/24.... 6.2r
11/04... 3.2r
10/06....... 9.1r
09/03....... 9.1r
08/18....... 9.1s
07/12........ 10.1
06/23........ 10.1

Perhaps this pattern doesn't quite make it either, but his 2.2 in the TP "Frog" race 1st out a good sign. FP#1 58-1, FP-2 ML 20-1

Saarland: Perfect Line?

10/27.... 9.0r
10/06..... 9.3r
09/08...... 11.1r
08/04........16.1s

Better than Harlans in that he didn't have the huge top. Problem is he still hasn't raced, though this weeks Gotham might be on tap. FP#1 11-1, FP-2 12-1

Showmeitall:

12/15...... 11.1s
11/23.... 6.2s
11/04...... 11.1r
09/29...... 10.3r
09/14....... 12.0r
08/25........ 14.0s

Not sure if this horse qualifies. The "ugly" bounce was dismissed coming right back 01/03 with a 3.3, Hutcheson? FP-2 50-1 Good Tampa Derby run might not affect odds too much. Remember Menifee took the TBD route.

Hope someone enjoyed this! LOL

Good luck to all.
