I was also considering the TG Open if it's 8/1, I'm off that afternoon with no responsibilities. Is there a deadline for entries?
Last Sunday, I played for the fourth time this season, the most outings I've had in a single season since my career ended abruptly in 1987.
I got down to a 6 that year. Late that season, I was playing a round and was one under after 13. I had always wanted to break par, just once, and that was going to be the day, I knew it.
On the 14th hole I hit into a deep trap, took me three shots to get out and three putts to get home. Being a young fool and a hothead, I was enraged at ruining the round, so I snapped my sand wedge in half and chucked the pieces into the woods. Angry at my putter as well, I also threw that into the woods, though I did go back and retrieve it. Walked off the course after that and didn't play again for 20 years.
Golf is an odd game for me; the better I got, the less I enjoyed it. Shot a 99 (for the entire 18) last Sunday and was thrilled to break triple figures. I suppose the fact that I grew up to live through far worse than a round-killing quadruple bogey has something to do with my new-found perspective.
I am playing the Spa with my Dad on Saturday. At 5:54 a.m. That's not a typo. Queen Chach the Second has encouraged me to play every weekend, provided I get home "at a decent hour." In a four-child household, a decent hour generally means by 11:00, so it's up with the birds.
Agree with the positive early reviews of the Panza regime. The old regime would also write a nice condition book at times, only problem was it seemed like we'd wind up with way too many of the better races in there scrapped in favor of the cheap substitute races. It got to the point where I'd just assume most or all of the substitute races would be on the card...
