I think its more the fact that the Belmont is the last race in the Triple Crown
series than the distance of the race.

TAP has also won the Belmont (twice)...and only one other Triple Crown race...
with many more opportunities than Mott or Clement.

Would not be surprised to see Tonalist tried on the turf at some point; he is kin
to Riskaverse, who was a G1 winner and a G1 producer on the lawn.
