When, exactly, were the good old days of critical analysis? When people accepted whatever their priest told them? When people, most of whom never had extensive formal education and worked much harder than people do today, couldn't be bothered to raise or correctly formulate the questions to be analyzed?

One of the great drawbacks of things like the internet is that people who whose titanic stupidity would never have seen the light of day, now get a full hearing (I'll include myself in that.)
