I don't like to jump to conclusions and am embarrassed when I sometimes do. (The reasons for Tapit's erratic Wood Memorial stretch drive for instance.) So considering I did not specifically note Channing Hill's rides over the weekend, I reviewed the charts for last week's rides.
I don't study these things anymore. I merely peruse and hope my Swiss Cheese mind takes it all in. I counted 3 wins for Hill. (Correct me if I'm mistaken) One was a 30-1 bomb. Another was 8-1 and the last about 7-2. Anyone betting on Hill all week, undoubtedly made money, courtesy of the 30-1. Even with that horse he took the Marco Polo route. You know what I'm talking about. The horse managed to pull it out at the end.
The consistent thing about Channing Hill is he generally takes all his mounts the Marco Polo route. When he gets one that for whatever reason is on top form, his bug and youthful strength help to carry the horse without looking like he's flailing away at the animal.
The alarming thing I noted was him failing on wide rides on 2nd and 3rd choices and the remarkable number that finished last.
This kid better improve fast.
