The thing in the article that I am curious about is the late CRW betting on a Pick-4. I understand why they would be late on things like win bets, where they want as much odds info as possible before making their wagers, but how does that apply to the Pick-4. Do they have access to info what Pick-4 combos have been played? Or are they just getting implied info on the first couple of legs from looking at the win and double pools?

I am also curious how they know when to place their bets. At a place like Gulfstream, the displayed post time is useless. Do they have someone waiting to press a button and, if so, how long before off-time must they press it? What happens if, after loading is complete, a horse breaks through the gate and has to be scratched? Can they cancel?
