I thought you were happy with the 14 post? My apologies if I'm thinking of somebody else, but I remember going back and forth for days about the issues with the 14 and it seemed like all the Mendelssohn backers thought it was the best possible post for him.
In fairness, despite the horrid trip/break/bumps/pinched back/traffic issues, it's asking so much, the travel, flying across the pond, vanning from the "heartland" to "outer Appalachia" just to be rewarded with a quarantine? Then finally hitting the Churchill track, a mere two days before the toughest race of his life, jog around it a couple times and then be expected to back up what was an all time 3 year old performance, this go round against a talented field of challengers with 150K plus sets of eyeballs watching, all while eating mud for the first time?
He very well may go on to prove his greatness again and again down the road, but what he was tasked with in regards to the KY derby was bordering on the impossible. I feel like for a euro to actually factor the first Saturday in May, he (or she) needs to fly in 2+ weeks early, get the quarantine out of the way and have a fair shot at getting acclimated to everything that is the derby. Otherwise it seems the same story time and time again will likely be repeated.
