Grinder's opinion that the m/l price would probably not hold up turned out to be spot on as Carolina Grace went off at 3.10/1 third in a gaggle of the top three choices.
Templeton Peck landing on #7 was well considered from a sheets perspective. She looked the most probable to run a winning number/race. When the win reward dropped significantly so did Face Man's investment I understand.
Apprentice(?) jockey Fukumoto aboard Kadley ended up the favorite @ 2.75/1 and that could be a near record (94/1 to 5/2 in successive races, rivaling amazements such as Arcangues, and others. Unfortuneately the ride probably used too much of her energy before the stretch or as some would say she bounced.
Heart Rush ridden as if the race was the B.C. mile by Patrick Husbands led from the start through 6F in 1:09.50. The inexperienced maiden winner Silent Respect with apparently over confident French Canadien journeyman Boulanger attending. C'mon folks these are 11-12 point horses.
So the slowest horse on the sheets won going away. I remember well when the winners sire Badge of Silver turned out to be a good turf horse because by then I had convinced myself he was best sprinting on the dirt.
The fastest horse on the sheets misjudged the finish line by a quarter of a mile subsequently finishing 2nd to last and avoiding the claim I believe.
In the end it was simply Geez the #8 is 43/1 what if she takes to the turf vs this unaccomplished bunch! $88 $30 $22 right race wrong choice.
