My Travers Story (683 Views)

Going into the Travers, I had the following:
1. A live Pick 3 ticket with 1 race to go.
2. A live Pick 4 ticket with 1 race to go.
3. A Pick 6 ticket with 3 of 4 cashed and 2 to go.
4. A single in the Travers on all 3 of those tickets.

The horse I had singled in the Travers was Lion Heart.

No Pick 3. No Pick 4. No Pick 6.

I know. I've read all the "he can't get the distance posts". I didn't buy that. He clearly got it in the Derby with a nice figure. And when LH got the first half in 49 seconds, I thought I was home free. I agree with TGJB. It wasn't the distance that got him and it wasn't the pace. LH was done before three quarters. Maybe he was done earlier than that and that is why the pace was so slow. Anyway, he X'ed. You anti-LHs were correct to not bet him. And we'll never know if it was for the right reason. But it sure made for an exciting race.
