Its more or less two weeks until KY Derby and the lack of Derby buzz is rather
palpable.

Next year when Mattress Mac offers $10MM to any son or daughter of Runhappy who
wins the Kentucky Derby things will be more interesting.

Has Runhappy even had a [i]starter[/i] at Del Mar or Saratoga yet? Don't worry
Mattress Mac you still have your secret weapon, Maria "Bad Check" Borell, waiting in the wings.

One thing I have been pondering. Traditionalists such as myself have long
resisted change to the Triple Crown sequence. This year however, with the
schedule torn asunder, we sit in August with three very good 3YOs; Swiss
Skydiver and Tiz the Law, both ultra competitive grinders who like to win, and
the Brilliant! Gamine running on Hay Oats and W(h)ate(ve)r. Maybe a Triple Crown
which starts with a Ky Derby which is a bit later in May and features more
spacing between the three races would not be the worst thing, and the whole
impact of lasix free 2YO racing will have to be taken into account.

Traditionalists facing tough times, can not see much of a future of "My Old
Kentucky Home" being played before the Derby.
