I love a good mystery so I will try and psyche the Saturday X horse over the next couple of weeks.
However, after reading your post, those of others and my observations all of my impressions of Arcangelo are positive except how will he he handle a fast pace?.
This years Classic looks to me to have a wealth of quality front runners my concern is will that help or hinder the 3 y/o New York shipper's and apparent early betting favorite's chances.
Often a hot pace is thought to help a late running stamina type, yet in the top tiers it often turn out the closers just end up with too much ground to make up late. Conversely, when horses are faced with a pace significantly faster than previously handled they become non-competitive.
This is a strategy Baffert has used with a lot of success and both Japanese horses have been known to run off and hide. I don't think the Classic will be anything like the New York races. Not to mention the climate. Whew!
Who is riding? Saint Javier stays I suppose. I call him Saint because he rarely does anything wrong. Was it BC when he caused Calvin B. to loose his mind?
