So now I have made the Big-Time. Topic of the month on the Ragozin Board. What is being lost in all this is how correct I was for ridiculing someone for such a ridiculus selection as Supah Blitz in the Ky Derby.
I will give someone credit where credit is due. When a horse is entered in the Derby it usually means he is one of the 20 best three year olds of his generation. In the case of Supah Blitz he actually went out and proved he was the 20th best three year old of his generation. Sometimes it is as difficult to pick who will finish last as it is to pick who will finish first, so I tip my hat to you there.
As figure players we are taught to almost ignore the Rider as if it wouldn't matter whether it was Jerry Bailey or a 126lb sack of potatos on the animals back. When I conjure up a mental image of newly retired rider Rosemary Homeister who rode Supah Blitz in that particular Derby, the words "Sack" and "Most Exciting Two Minutes" do come to mind.
Just curious LF when the Supah Blitz selection was made what was your Mental Image of Rosies trip, coming from dead last. The one Shoemaker gave Ferdinand when he threaded his way through entire field or the Mike Smith Central Ave trip aboard Praire Bayou, who lost so much ground he couldn't get there by the way.
One thing is for sure, Supah Blitz is no Thunder Gulch. Hell he isn't even a Victory Gallop.
