Some things never change... (608 Views)

Today, at 2:30 am PST, ESPN Classic broadcast a replay of the 1979 "60 Minutes" story with Harry Reasoner on the doping of thoroughbred racehorses. At the end of the broadcast, Steve Kroft came on to update(circa 2004) saying the problem still exists and that the users are always one step(i.e., generation) ahead of the detectors!

What I found most interesting about the story was one of Harry's questions: Do you think that trainers manipulate the use and non-use of performance enhancing drugs...and
doesn't that make it really hard on the handicapper (bettor)?

He either had a really good researcher or Harry was a racetracker!
