Action this Day is off to the breeding shed, retiring after failing to hit the board in evey race subsequent to his B.C. Juvenile victory. He did throw a pretty nice race in the Sham, but never came back to either that or his B.C. effort. Mandella thinks his back is hurting him when he runs. I'm not so sure. You'd think he could find some indication of pain after a race or a work. He's been trying to run him so I'm skeptical about a race occurring pain, but you never know.

I think its more likely that Action this Day realized that like a star human athlete receiving a big contract, that he made his nut on that Breeders Cup Juvenile victory and that he just doesnt want to chase colts any longer. He's ready for the next phase of his career chasing fillies:

"Hey there silky swish tail, come back here!, I won the Breeders Cup Juvenile!"

It's interesting to note, ATD was not favored in a race after his B.C. win until his first start on turf. Seems the bettors knew for some time that ATD wasn't quite as good as that B.C. win suggested. I'll miss him. Its almost as good to find an easy toss as it is to find a value horse.
