Looks like a much more interesting race to watch than bet, unless you think one of the three inside horses can get up.

Fusaichi Rock Star - gives me a chuckle. The same guy that bought FuPig and FuSham has him. I guess he's giving Baffert a shot instead of Drysdale. Whats really interesting is the money they plunked down for this one. 825K at another 2 yr. old in training sale by a really non descript stallion "Wild Wonder". You gotta admire Baffert's big ones, pedigree doesnt matter to him. If he likes it, he buys it. I don't know. If you're gonna pay that kind of money for an unproven horse you'd think you could at least get some pedigree. I wonder what Tgraph could have got Sekiguchi this year or last for 825K? (You know, assuming in a private sale pedigree is of no more significance to him.) They took him to New York like he was gonna be the second coming and he was bet there like he was. Either he hated The Big Sandy or they made a horrible mistake. He could be out front here, just depending.

Kirkendahl - I know he's nominated, but after that last one, how can this horse have Derby aspirations? He might have bounced. One thing is pretty clear. He is quick and they didn't put him on the lead last time. (Probably to nurse the distance) This time, he has to prove he's capable with this quality competition, so I think they'll dance with what brung em. Whether he can hold on or not is another matter.

Don't Get Mad - Suspect he's gonna find it harder to close into Kalifornia fractions. I guess he's there for the winter.

Then theres Bafferts Roman Ruler - Now this FuPig was even faster than the FuPig that went south. (non tgraph) Supposedly this guy had a pinched testicle bothering him and he got some time off. I don't know about that, but one turn seems to suit him.

Consolidator - Lukas says "He's one of the ones". I know, I know, I don't know what that means either. I don't like him here. I gotta figure that B.C. Juvenile and Grade I he won mean this is a warm up of sorts. He's working lights out, but he's already got enough graded stakes earnings to take a vacation til May 7th. I don't think they aren't gonna beat up on him too much here, but he is a Storm Cat and may have other ideas himself. Espi is not a bad gate boy either.
