"I Got My Derby Horse" (703 Views)

Thats what Wygod said in the below article. He's referring to Sweet Catomine. She may be that good, but I sure wouldn't make plans off of a 2 year old filly race in October. I think I'd wait until after the Santa Anita Derby, to say, "I got my Derby horse".

She was fast in October, but she is a Storm Cat. Will she be as effective in May? Seems to me that April is as soon as you can begin to project a filly that far forward. I think Genuine Risk and Winning Colors both proved they could be competitive vs. the boys in April before their connections felt they had found their Derby horse.
