Janis-- as you know I avoid responding to you to avoid feeding the beast (your insatiable need for my attention), and I'm certainly not going to post the Donaldson speed chart (the one he calls a parallel time chart, not perfect, but not bad for 1933), at your demand. But I do have a couple of suggestions for you:
1-- Go on the internet, as George did, and find a copy of the book. It took George less than an hour, I called and ordered one, had it in good condition two days later.
2-- AND SO DID FRIEDMAN. There's a guy who works for Ragozin who plays at the OTB on the corner here, and he told me that after I posted about "Consistent Handicapping Profits" Len didn't believe me (since it obviously meant he had been lied to an awful lot, and the book he had co-authored with Ragozin was full of, well, let's call them misrepresentations). So he bought a copy of the book himself-- only problem was the speed chart was torn out (evidently somebody thought it wasn't that bad).
So, Len requested (through the guy who worked for him) that I make a copy for him.
Now, you gotta know I loved that-- so I told the guy to wait, and ran right upstairs. It was tricky-- we are talking about an old, important book, and I did some damage to the spine by putting it on a copying machine. But I made a copy, and sent it on to Len. I wouldn't do it again and further damage the book.
So, here's my suggestion: Len has the Donaldson speed chart. Ask HIM to publish it on HIS website. Problem solved.
By the way, Connie is a good friend of mine, who got even more upset about the claims in Ragozin's book than I did, and has a far lower opinion of Friedman than I do, due to the way he feels Len treated Connie's children, and what he perceives as Len's overall arrogance (I don't think it's that simple, and have told Connie that). Your comments were WAY out of line-- but what do you care, right? Doesn't matter if it's true.
