Lost in the rest of this Sweet Catomine stuff is this-- she evidently bled in a work on 4/3. Everything else aside (the betting public, the fact that what they did was stupid because she's already a champion, etc.)-- who in their right mind runs a horse back 6 days after it bleeds??? In New York, a FIRST time bleeder (meaning in a race, while running without Lasix) can't run for 10 days, the idea being that it's a hemorrhage, and needs to heal. This filly bled in a WORK (meaning, under much less stress), and was already on Lasix, which would make her the equivalent of a second time bleeder in NY, which gets you 30 days rest.

The only possible scenario where I can see someone running 6 days after bleeding is to lose a horse in a claimer. This ain't that. What the hell were these guys thinking???

By the time the smoke clears racing will be lucky if it doesn't have the animal cruelty people after it. What a mess.
