wonderful statement except for the following

the reality of the hype about bellamy road
being the next secretariat ,slew, etc was
bogus to anyone following speed figures, pace figures or familiar with aqu on the
day of the wood or even the day after when speed was king and horses were running
in most cases, 30% faster than their normal
speed.

b.r. beat up on horses that had been competing against each other, and like many
speed horses, look phenomenal when not challenged.

why zito picked post 16 still boggles
my mind when no real jock within the
first 10 positions would sit back and
let the horse win for fun.

while the race did not play out that way,
when you are the speed, post 1-5 are logical picks.

finally, the wood was a lifetime top
for a relatively inexperienced horse
and churchill, from races 6 forward was
not playing up to speed.

so, while horses are flesh and blood, and luck still is part of the game, numbers,
pace, racing style ,and post position proved,(at least for me) that bellamy
road would be off the board.

case closed ...
