jimbo,
IMO, it has always been a tough call to know what to do with Zito's horses. It's just more apparent right now because of the significance of the recent developments. In the past when I've said that I can't remember the last time I've cashed on one of his horses, I wasn't kidding. For me, it's impossible to bet on anything he enters that looks set to fire a big race because IMO the horses aren't as trustworthy as those trained by the "typical" high quality stock trainer (let alone the very good ones). However, he's always dangerous with horses because they occasionally pop up with big races when you don't expect it. As far as I am concerned, he has no clue whatsoever about how good any of his horses are, whether they are improving or getting worse, or how they are going to run on any given day. He just has a barn full of high quality stock and doesn't destroy them. So he wins some big races.
