Didn't Horsegoer propose a contest?
Perhaps if the other Rag devotees lack the fire in the belly, he'll be their solitary champion.
I'm interested in a modern study. Obviously, a 10 year old study has little to no bearing due to staleness. No one would argue that American Textiles are in the same shape they were 10 years ago, let alone General Motors. Lets assume at one time the Rags were the way to go. Do they still hold an accuracy advantage today? Are they still a Cadillac and if so is that a good thing?
I think handicappers are a more information hungry group today than ever before. The reason being universal speed figures have impinged upon the speed figure edge. Medication usage has required a new level of scrutiny. Now, having figures isn't even an issue. Its having a better edge, for some that may be ascertaining the most accurate premium figures. Even if that edge is only 5% its important is it not?
Could GM have grown into a behemoth without Ford? And if so would that have spurred them on to perfect their product? If GM was big enough to ignore product improvement would that bode well for their future product? Is that where they find themselves now?
Come back Horsegoer or Robes, the gauntlet is thrown down. Competition is good for America. Prove that your vehicle is built for speed. Shirking the gauntlet in this inquiry is tantamount to an admission that your champion is defenseless.
I think he'll most likely be wide enough to cost himself a length or two. Depending on variables and whether he matches/exceeds his two previous efforts that may be too wide. He's picking up and spotting weight too. Theres a difference.
