Don't know how many of you got to see the Melbourne Cup, called the race that stops a nation, from Flemington in Australia, but, if you did, you got to see one of the greatest horses in the history of the breed -- Makaybe Diva win her 3rd Cup in three years. The implications of what she did today will stand forever in the records of throughbred racing history: 128 pounds, 2 miles, 24 horses and she gave weight to all other runners, except one, and as much as 15 pounds. I just can't believe how easily she won. There's going to be a national holiday in Australia to celebrate that mare as 130,000 turned out on-track, 800 million people watched the race world-wide, and over 50 million was bet on her alone to win. Trainer Lee Freedman said after the race, "only the smallest child here will ever live long enough to see another horse like this".
