Bailey's Handicapping DVD (817 Views)

Bailey has made (or is making) a DVD which he says is for handicappers and will be released this spring.

He says that he talks about the styles of major riders, aspects of various racetracks, and "things that are in the form but you might not notice" which will give the handicapper more information to consider in handicapping races. Since it's a DVD, I assume he will be using real races to demonstrate what he says, a potent format for attracting new blood.

I wonder if he will admit to some of his own weaknesses (few though there were), like the downhill turf course at Santa Anita; and the "Eibar Coa" factor when you could basically throw JD out if he broke inside of Coa on the turf for most of that GP meet.

Either way, I think it's a great idea and hope that the notion of "adding to the information base of handicapping" is also carried out in his on-air appearances. I would like to see more emphasis on how the game is played, rather than just the usual touts and interviews.
